Everyone has secrets.
Even best friends.

Swirling black descends like ravens, large enough to block the glow of the streetlights. A dull roar starts like a train on the 'L', a far-away rumbling that grows louder as it pulls closer, until it's directly overhead and you feel it in your chest, except this doesn't pass you by. Verity, white-faced and eyes blazing, shouts through the din, "Run, Mo!"
Mo Fitzgerald knows about secrets. But when she witnesses her best friend's murder, she discovers Verity was hiding things she never could have guessed. To find the answers she needs and the vengeance she craves, Mo—quiet, ordinary, unmagical Mo—will have to enter a world of raw magic and shifting alliances. And she'll have to choose between two very different, equally dangerous guys—protective, duty-bound Colin and brash, mysterious Luc. One wants to save her, one wants to claim her. Which would you choose?

My Take:
Torn in my opinion was the BOMB!!! I loved everything about it. Its about a girl named Mo who gets thrown into the world of magic. When she lost her best friend(Verity)  things start to change in her world of normal. Along the way she meets Luc who is dark and mysterious and introduces her to the world of the Arcs who have magic. She also meets someone who she would rather not be there but is, Colin is her bodyguard and was hired to protect Mo. With the cops after Verity's killer Mo wants answers but ends up getting more than she wanted. Who Mo ends up with is still up in the air even though I think I know who it is. Erica gave us all a piece of the beautiful cake that is the world of the Arks and hopefully us Flats will get more insight and more of the steaming romance that has brewed since Mo met... I love it when a book is so good and keeps you wanting more, Torn is leaving me wanting way more than I thought possible. I was speechless after that last page and I really didn't want to stop reading. So looking forward to Tangled.

Sometimes sorry isn't enough....
It’s winter break in Ascension, Maine. The snow is falling and everything looks pristine and peaceful. But not all is as it seems...
Between cozy traditions and parties with her friends, Emily loves the holidays. And this year’s even better--the guy she’s been into for months is finally noticing her. But Em knows if she starts things with him, there’s no turning back. Because his girlfriend is Em’s best friend.
On the other side of town, Chase is having problems of his own. The stress of his home life is starting to take its toll, and his social life is unraveling. But that’s nothing compared to what’s really haunting him. Chase has done something cruel...something the perfect guy he pretends to be would never do. And it’s only a matter of time before he’s exposed.
In Ascension, mistakes can be deadly. And three girls—three beautiful, mysterious girls—are here to choose who will pay.
Em and Chase have been chosen.
My Take:

Fury starts off with a girl Em who is one of the nice girls at school, and changes perspective to Chase who is the star quarterback who makes sure everything on him is perfect. Em has a major crush on Zach, but its a problem because Gabby-Em's best friend- is dating Zach. Where Chase meets the hottest girl ever, who messes with him he still finds it in his heart to forgive her. You meet Ali, Meg and Ty as the three cousins once in town many things start to happen. The Furies in Greek mythology is to bring havoc to those that have done wrong. So when Gabby is gone all Em can think of is how to spend time with Zach and Chase just can't seem to get that special girl out of his head. Just remember what goes around comes back around. Em and Chase need to realize that sorry is not enough. I'm looking forward to Envy and Eternity so excited. Everyone should think before you act because the furies could be after you.

My Book Boyfriend (2): Adam Conant

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme, hosted by Missie at The Unread ReaderWhat is My Book Boyfriend you might ask.  Well it is a weekly meme where we talk about a literary crush including stats, a picture of what you imagine he looks like and some quotes from him that make you swoon.  If you are interested in participating please check out the My Book Boyfriend Introduction Page over at Missie's blog The Unread Reader.

My pick for this weeks MB is someone I've been crushing on since he was introduced to me as the guy with the dog. Adam Conant is the kind of guy that any girl can be into, he is the guy who I swooned over when first introduced and will keep swooning because sometimes he says the right things. My review for The Secret Circle.

Stats:
Age: 17
Hometown: New Salem, Massachusetts
Hair color: Auburn
Power: Can control water and fire
Eye Color:Blue-Grey

"I felt something with you.A special understanding.I can't explain it."

"Adam saved your life." "He went through the four circles of protection", Suzan said, with a distinct note of awe in her voice."

"If you'd ever done what I told you, held it tight in your fist and thought of me, I'd have known, and I'd have tracked it down, no matter where you were. I thought you were that special."

I heard about this show coming this fall on the cw and I wanted to see where the general idea for the show would take me. From the moment a boy walking his dog came into the picture with his eyes and his auburn hair I knew we would end up seeing this mystery guy. Adam to me is a great catch he is the type to be there when the tough is well tough and I really enjoyed it when ever he spoke his mind. Thomas Dekker will be playing Adam on The Secret Circle Thursdays this fall. You can catch the premiere Sept. 15 @ 9 on THE CW.

plus here is a little interview with none other than Adam himself.

Review: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

The Iron King
Author: Julie Kagawa
Pages:363
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Release Date: February 1st 2010
Author Website
Available: Amazon|Barnes and Noble
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

My Take:

I couldn't help but admire the cover while reading this book. I first heard through Twitter about this book a few months ago the buzz drew me in. Meagan in the beginning felt like the character that would end up changing more by the end of the book. I couldn't help but feel some connection towards the males, on one hand you have Puck who is the best friend, the one who is always there even when you least expect it. On another hand you have a prince named Ash who at first meeting you don't know who would want him but like an onion Ash has many layers and he can change your mind and be the caring type but the next second he is back to his masked self. I understand it took me awhile to get into the story because it felt like some information was missing. By the end of the story I felt this need that I needed to finish the whole story. So far
there are 3 books already out and the 4th is coming out soon, can't wait to see more of Ash, Meagan, and Puck because with these three the world could end up ending and still they would find a way around it. Could you tell which mystery guy I like in this one yet or maybe you'll find out later....

My Book Boyfriend (1): Ethan Lawson Wate

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme, hosted by Missie at The Unread ReaderWhat is My Book Boyfriend you might ask.  Well it is a weekly meme where we talk about a literary crush including stats, a picture of what you imagine he looks like and some quotes from him that make you swoon.  If you are interested in participating please check out the My Book Boyfriend Introduction Page over at Missie's blog The Unread Reader.

So for my book boyfriend I decided to go with someone who knew he wanted her the moment he saw her in his dreams.  Ethan Lawson Wate from Beautiful Creatures caught my attention when he had a dream about a girl.

Stats:

Hometown: Gatlin, South Carolina
Hair color: Shaggy brown hair
Interests: Basketball, eating Amma's pie & reading the books hidden under my bed (Catcher in the Rye, Heart of Darkness, Snow Crash, Ender's Game, Slaughterhouse-Five)
Goal in life: Escape from Gatlin.

"I was lost before I found her in my dreams, and she found me that day in the rain. I knew it seemed like I was always the one trying to save Lena, but the truth was she had saved me, and I wasn't ready for her to stop now."

"I never loved you any more than I do, right this second. And I'll never love you any less than I do, right this second."

"She looked up at me, and the whole world disappeared. Like there was just us, like there would always be just us, and we didn't need magic for that. It was sort of happy and sad, all at the same time. I couldn't be around her without feeling things, without feeling everything."

From the moment I picked up Beautiful Creatures and met Ethan I knew I would adore him. The guy I see him as is Dylan O'brien who plays Stiles on Teen Wolf. For more info on Ethan check out his facebook page or castergirls.com. Dylan is so HOT I had to show you how HOT I think he is.

Review: Overbite (Insatiable #2) by Meg Cabot

Overbite
Author: Meg Cabot
Pages:278
Publisher: HarperCollins
Release Date: July 5th 2011
Author Website
Available: Amazon|Barnes and Noble

Meena Harper has a special gift, but it's only now that anyone's ever appreciated it. The Palatine Guard — a powerful secret demon-hunting unit of the Vatican — has hired her to work at their new branch in Lower Manhattan. With Meena's ability to predict how everyone she meets will die, the Palatine finally has a chance against the undead.

Sure, her ex-boyfriend was Lucien Antonescu, son of Dracula, the prince of darkness. But that was before he (and their relationship) went up in flames. Now Meena's sworn off vampires for good ... at least until she can prove her theory that just because they've lost their souls doesn't mean demons have lost the ability to love.

Meena knows convincing her co-workers — including her partner, über-demon-hunter Alaric Wulf — that vampires can be redeemed won't be easy ... especially when a deadly new threat seems to be endangering not just lives of the Palatine, but Meena's friends and family as well.

But Meena isn't the Palatine's only hope. Father Henrique — aka Padre Caliente — New York City's youngest, most charming priest, has also been assigned to the case.

So why doesn't Meena — or Alaric — trust him?

As she begins unraveling the truth, Meena finds her loyalties tested, her true feelings laid bare ... and temptations she never even imagined existed, but finds impossible to resist.

This time, Meena may finally have bitten off more than she can chew.

My Take:
I enjoyed it because it brought back the Alaric Wulf who I adore. Meena is of course the one to who knows about her decisions and she knew that when she turned her back on Lucian she just knew he would never be too far. But when an ex wants to kill and all it takes is another ex to rescue her she is glad that Lucian still cared. While reading I actually did get emotional and of course I got attached to all of the characters it was hard to see that sadness. I really enjoyed this sequel because Meena is able to choose for herself and she is way too smart to not go her own way. Meg gave me the chance to romance again with the very sexy Alaric Wulf I mean come on if I had to choose for my book boyfriend it would be him because he is that sexy I love his character, okay I'm going to go fan myself now.

Review: Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Nightshade
Author: Andrea Cremer
Pages: 452
Publisher: Philomel
Release Date: October 19th 2010

Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything- including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?

My Take:
While reading I couldn't help myself but see this world come to life, I was following Calla on her journey when she learned something I was there and appalled that she didn't know. This was very easy to get into because I felt that Calla needed to know what was happening but being in the dark can be a life or death thing. It different than any other werewolf book because the character doesn't see herself as that type of paranormal their new words for us instead of the normal paranormal words we get amazing and easy to remember words to remember words. On a mountain reserved for the Guardians to protect, something has to happen right. Ever wonder if you knew who you would marry, for Calla that's the way it has been since well forever, as a guardian/alpha Calla has to follow the rules and never stray away. Instead Calla ends up re-thinking the rules and because of unexpected rescue on her part, she now has to choose either to live life she was set forth to or fight for something that is beyond the power of any alpha. I couldn't really say what team I was, so by the end it was really Calla who made the choice, for me well Ren is all sorts of HOT!! but Shay has something too so for right now I'm Team Calla.
